Hat for Cooper
So I made a hat for Cooper on the way to Hallsville yesterday....and then mitts today while we were waiting for him to arrive! They matched the pillow sham I had for Stacy at the hospital and the quick blanket I threw together. I couldn't help myself :)

Cooper Floyd Hunt
My brother and sister-in-law are expecting the first baby in our family on July 10, 2011! As soon as I found out I was going to be an aunt, I went searching for the perfect baby blanket for my new love. I finished the border by candlelight this weekend as the electricity was out for 13 hours at my parent's house the night/morning before the shower. Darren says one day I can tell him "Back when I made this for you...I had to knit by candlelight" Here's the pattern for the Baby Tree of Life Afghan.

The upside? I chose a super-wash wool that is machine wash and machine dry. No worries for Momma here!

Christmas cheer for your ear!
I decided to make some earrings for my co-workers for Christmas. Hopefully they all have their ears pierced. Otherwise...I guess I'll be making bracelets :/ I had lots of fun putting them together. It really is incredibly easy once you get the right things to work with. The only downside? I can't keep them for myself!

Baby Alexis
My sweet friend Erin is due on October 31 to have a baby girl! Her shower was today and I barely managed to finish this hat in time. As always, it took me multiple tries to get it started correctly. But, I made it work and I like the way it turned out. One of her co-workers gave me her card and asked me if I would make the same hat for her 5 year old girl! Hopefully I can do it in a decent time frame. Here's a picture

Booties for boys
The baby shower is tomorrow and I finished both pairs up on Sunday. The pictures aren't that great, but I think they are pretty cute. Hopefully no one else will realize they aren't perfect.

Things always seem to unravel....
I've got a few friends and co-workers that are expecting precious babies soon and I realized that if I plan to give gifts from the heart...I need to start NOW! As I mentioned in my first post, timeliness is NOT my strong suit when it comes to knitting. Not, that I'm slow...I just encounter, let's say 'complications'. I've been trying to find a pattern (easy-ish) for baby booties and it's been harder than I guessed. There is one that I like but the pattern was written by someone who just imagined how they wanted the booties to look. LOVELY. I really shouldn't talk. Last year, I made a great hat to go with my ski coat and just pulled the pattern from thin air. But at least I don't publish the thing and expect people to reproduce! Regardless, I started on pattern #1 and ended up having to rip it all out because I didn't understand the silly pattern and I didn't like it all that much anyhow (or so I told myself).
Pattern #2 (the cute one)-started smoothly, transitioned into more difficult steps I hadn't done before, but managed to squeak by with a few 'tricks'...for a little while at least. *SIGH* Oh well! It's always worth it in the end! Back to square 1....
